The Mech Pack 2 modified Clan Urbanmech differs from the original in that it loses the Omni slot capabiltiy. The Right arm can carry a 3 slot [[Energy]] weapon, and as these are generally low in weight, the Clan Urbanmech can use the weight savings for the extra heat sinks. 2 [[Ballistic]] and 1 each in the left and right torso give it significant Ballistic potential. The [[Jump Jets]] common to both Urbanmechs greatly assist its survivability. Hit and run tactics against heavy mechs in congested urban environments can be effective, though Urbanmech pilots must learn to avoid going head to head against more powerful enemies.<ref>[http://trm.mektek.net/index_mechs.htm MechWarrior4 - Technical Reference Manual]</ref>

Not usually considered a serious threat to [[Heavy]] and [[Assault]] mechs, the Urbanmechs are powerful enough to create a problem if ignored. Dedicate a fast, close combat capable [[light]] mech to counter their threat, but ensure its [[Jump Jet]] capability or the Urbanmech will quickly outmaneuver it. A [[Cougar]] can be extremely valuable in this role, while still providing a force multiplication function. Their torso can be tough to crack, but legs are vulnerable as their low speed and agility make targeting them easier.<ref>[http://trm.mektek.net/index_mechs.htm MechWarrior4 - Technical Reference Manual]</ref>
